Makeup application and a solid skincare routine should go hand in hand. A lot of the times when we think of skincare we think moisturizers, serums, toners. But what about makeup removers?

I love doing makeup, but when it comes to skincare I need fuss-free products. I’m not gonna lie, I can be lazy when it comes to skincare, especially removing my makeup. I have dry skin, and a lot of removers, including all the famous micellar waters can make my skin feel tight, which is not helping with motivating me.

This means that any products, that are quick to take away all my makeup and hydrate my skin in the process are winners in my eyes.

I found, that the best option for me is to go down the route of using balms. They are gentle, they melt off any makeup and they leave my skin feeling soft rather than stripped. I have used and loved the Pixi double cleanse and the Body shop camomile sumptuous cleansing butter. Those were both great options, and also a lot cheaper than my current cleanser, the Elemis pro-collagen rose cleansing balm. With that being said, they are all slightly different.

For starters, you only get 90ml at the Body shop, 2x50ml at Pixi and a 105ml at Elemis. I feel like Pixi is a great option if you like to double cleanse, or if you like to have a lighter and a heavy duty cleanser as well depending on how much makeup you wear. The body shop one is a good option as well, I really liked it, but it doesn’t quite leather up as the Elemis does.

Does it worth the hefty price tag?

I would say yes. For me anyway. They are also a lot of times 10-15% off at John Lewis/ Debenhams if you want to save some money.

I’ve been using this cleanser for about the past two weeks, and my skin is loving it.

First I warm up a small amount (about the size of a 5p coin) between my hands and then rub it all over my face, massaging it in. After that, I wet my hands and massage it a bit more. Reacting with the water it turns into a lovely milky texture. Then I just take a wet cloth and wipe it away. It melts off even my mascara perfectly. My skin just feels lovely and soft once I’m done.

It comes with what they call a luxury cloth, but I prefer my own ones as it feels a bit scratchy on my skin.

You can also use it as an intensive hydrating mask. I haven’t tried it that way yet, so I can’t report on that one. But what you are supposed to do is, apply it to clean skin, leave it there for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off. I will update this post, once I tried it that way.

It also comes in two different versions. The original and the rose balm. The original smelled way too spa-like for me, and I adore the smell of roses, so it was no question which option I will go for. I am in love with the smell of this, it makes me happy every time I use the balm. If you have sensitive skin you’ll be glad to know, that the scent comes from rose extract instead of any artificial perfume. Probably that’s why it smells so much like a bouquet of roses.

I am really happy with this purchase, and I would say it is worth the price tag, especially since it works as a mask as well.

What do you think? What is your favorite makeup remover?

Have a lovely day!
