You know the annoying feeling when your favorite foundation just doesn't quite match your color? You've got it when you had a tan, but now you are as white as snow, and all of a sudden that foundation just makes you look the color of a pumpkin. Or of course the other way around... That's when color adjusting drops can come in handy.

Of course, you could just buy another shade of the foundation. But sometimes you just can’t find that perfect shade, or as you tan, you go through several shades, and most of us just can’t justify purchasing all of them. This is also cheaper than getting another bottle of high-end foundation.

Recently I got two of the Body Shop shade adjusting drops, one to lighten and one to darken.

One drop of each is supposed to adjust your foundation half a shade.

All together I think it is a great product. They don’t change the texture or the coverage of the foundations. I was worried that it will water them down and take away from the coverage but if anything it is even adding a little bit of extra to it.

The product description is right, one drop will take your foundation down about half a shade, so it can be perfect if you only need the smallest adjusting.

The only thing I can fault is the packaging. I see why they added a dropper, but I would’ve preferred a pump. Like every other dropper, this one can be a bit temperamental as well and not fully function half of the time.

Now let’s talk a bit of the color.

Some brands (like Illamasqua) created a perfectly white base to mix, whereas the Body shop version leans on the pink side. It didn’t cause any issues though when mixing it with the foundations, it shouldn’t really cause drama as long as you are not trying to go at least 5 shades lighter. They went with the pink hue to tone down the yellow shades, which is a nice idea, but if your foundation is really warm and orange, I feel like that pink hue won’t help. Oh well, the lightening drops work nonetheless, they are more white than pink, and that’s all that matters at the end of the day.

I won’t lie, I only got the darker shade, because it was a buy one, get the second half price offer, and I thought it will be handy in my professional kit. I haven’t tried it as a foundation mixer yet, however, I tried it to contour/bronze my face, and it works. It is really concentrated, so you only need the smallest drops, but you can definitely multitask it that way on a light-medium skin tone.

What do you think? Have you tried any shade adjusting products before? If so, what’s your favorite?

Have a lovely day!
